Regulation of Flavonoid Biosynthesis by Plastid-derived Signals (C06)

DFG: SFB TRR 175 - THE GREEN HUB

As a major physiological trait of high light and cold acclimation as well as in response to perturbed chloroplast development, plants accumulate flavonoids (e.g., anthocyanins). Although factors involved in transcriptional regulation of the pathway have been identified, the components of signal transduction cascade(s) involving chloroplast as a sensor for the changing environment to regulate flavonoid biosynthesis is only poorly understood. The main objective of the proposed work is to understand the impact of chloroplast derived signals on the regulation of flavonoid biosynthesis during chloroplast development and in response to shifts in light intensity and temperature.
